true color

Today (Monday October 7, 2013) I pulled up into our driveway, and as I did, there was this lone leaf standing up . It was really cool, the gold splashed with red lining leaf was standing, i mean literally standing like “look at me everyone”. The leaf has already changed to its Fall colors, and yet there is a tree full of leaves yet to turn to their natural inner color, and let go.

Random thoughts started flowing through the ole noggin:

Man, that’s cool how that leaf is standing up…

Wonder what it looked like flying/floating/falling to the ground…

If leaves could talk, are the others going, “Did you SEE that?” The crowd goes nuts!

Someone had to be first and let GO.

Wonder how many want to say, “Me, too”!

Hahaha….Ok, so it doesn’t take much to amuse me, but when we stop to think for a second, we have much in common with this leaf.  This leaf, much like us has a beautiful inside that shows up BIG when change is allowed to occur as God designed.  God designed the leaf uniquely with the shapes and colors that will distinguish it from the rest of the tree world, yet when placed in the midst of the others on a mountain, the color of the individual uniqueness blending with each other takes our breath away at the beauty! So, knowing that the leaf is changing as God designed…what about us?

I mean, what if we were like the leaves, but instead of changing when and how God designed us, we could determine when we would change…if ever. Wonder who or what leaf (person) would be first to change, and then watch others chime in and say, “Me, too”, and allow their true colors to shine through (dying to themselves).

[Rom 12:2 NLTDon’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person bychanging the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

[Phl 3:20-21 NLT20 But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives.  And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. 21 He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.

God made us on purpose with a beautiful inside, yet we fill it or cover with stuff or isolation so we can blend in with the others that are doing the same because we just want to be….. well safe….and yet find that no one can really see us because, like the leaves in summer that adorn the trees on mountains they are all green, and it’s not until we allow the “true colors”, the real us, to change and stand up in HIM will we ever experience HIM with others who will say,“Me, too”!

(This post is in honor of my bride, Debby, who  is a tremendous writer, journals on nature and to anyone who has ever heard the words LET GO and LET GOD, and beLIeVING out your true colors….. you are heroes!)

love em up!
