Storage Units….
Ok, really! hahaha. I mean think about this for a second. As i span the channels and land on some reality shows like hoarding (buried alive) and then a few hours later storage wars comes on the screen. So here is my question…what is the difference? Because one person hides their “stuff” in storage units its not considered hoarding? Maybe it is, I don’t know. I must admit that there are particular items that I believe I could “collect” (it’s not hoarding if it has value to you HAHAHAHA, gurney please, this man is ready for locoville). But we do like to store “things”.
But we see a different type of storing when Mary gave birth to Jesus (Emmanuel), God with us. Crank open the screen and translation of your choice and let’s see what type of storage unit Mary utilizes.
Luke chapter 2. You will recall the scene. Joseph is taking a very pregnant Mary back to his hometown as Caesar Augustus wants to count heads (census). Joseph and Mary arrive in the town of David also known as Bethlehem and the time had come for THE birth. The source and result of LOVE was entering the world. She wrapped HIM up tight and placed him in a manger (trough). As love entered the world, an angel of the Lord appeared to some shepherds. After the angel calmed them down from their initial fright, the shepherds learned that in the town of David, a Savior, the Messiah has been born. You will know that you have seen HIM when you see a child in a manger wrapped up tight and lying in a manger (trough). The shepherds soak in the ensuing chorus from the legions of angels who are praising that GOOD NEWS has arrived in the town of David.
The shepherds waste no time and run to find Jesus lying in the manger just as the angels proclaimed. They look face to face with the one who would save them, they see the tiny fingers of the ONE, the same fingers that will soon spread apart from the pain of the nails going through HIS wrist to secure HIM to the cross. The shepherds gaze at the tiny feet, the feet that will have tears from a woman weeping in worship of him and the feet will feel her hair wipe them dry. The same feet that will be placed together to have another nail pierce through the skin and bone to secure them to the cross. The cross we could not carry. They see the eyes that 3 days later will see the other side of a tomb as HE exits securing our victory over death forever (IT IS FINISHED). They cannot contain themselves and run off sharing the arrival of eternal love to any and everyone that would listen.
v19 NIV …….But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
Mary would raise the door of her storage unit (heart) to help her navigate through seeing her BOY, our Savior hanging on some timbers. She would pull the night the angel of the Lord appeared to her and let her know that the God of the universe had found favor in her, and would be the person who would deliver HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE into our world. JESUS, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God and Prince of Peace…Merry CHRISTmas gang!
let’s continue to keep the door to our storage units (hearts) wide open!
love em up!
