pleasure in adopting
Saturday we learned that through belief in Christ we are adopted into the family of God and that it gave him great pleasure. Take another peek: Ephesians 1:5 NLT God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
Gave and gives HIM great pleasure, yea that makes total sense that faith in Christ is Good News! It’s what He wanted to do, yea God is delivering on the promises that he desires for no one to perish. You remember when we discussed what is God’s will. We see one of the several reminders in John 6:38-40 and these words in 2 Peter 3:9 NIV The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish (destroyed in the NLT), but everyone to come to repentance.
Man it’s neat to see this throughout God’s letter to us. And here is the promise
Ephesians 1:13-14 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own [fn] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. v14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
So now we begin to see what verse 3 really means, its where we learned that we have been given every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. You see the inheritance and the blessing from the inheritance is Jesus, we are identified as HIS (operating in the power of the Father; patria postestas). Our inheritance is that our forever started when we said yes to Jesus. Some folks describe this as eternal blessedness. Can’t argue with that one. Smiles all day long….WOW I can dig that…let’s go ahead and get some practice this week. Operate with the eternal mindset and let’s plaster some smiles on our noggins.
love em up!
